How do I run custom reports in QuickBooks Online from scratch?
Facts:
Just like in QuickBooks Desktop you can customize any pre-existing report and save it as a custom report, but you can also create one entirely from scratch.
Discussion:
To create a custom report from scratch, go to your reports page and in the search bar, search for “Custom Summary Report”
Example:
Let’s walk through the same example from QuickBooks Desktop in our previous blog and create a Sales Summary by Week Report as QuickBooks Online works a bit differently.
- Select “Customize”
- Select your date range, in this example, we are going to use April through June 2022.
- You will want to select the following options:
- Display Rows by Income Statement
- Display columns by Weeks
- Distribution Account: All Income Accounts
If you wanted to only view certain sales/income accounts also follow the below additional step
Product/Service: Select all that apply
Like Desktop you can also compare prior periods by simply selecting the option
Then select “Run Report”
You can name the report by scrolling down in the customize options, or by selecting the pencil next to the name on the report itself.
To save this report as a custom report simply press “Save Customization” and going forward it will be in your Custom reports tab
